Big Pie 2010

The Big Pie of 2010 was held in the Volunteer Rooms,Irvine on the evening of Friday, 29th October under the chairmanship of the Deacon Convener, Alastair Kennedy.

All seven Trades were well represented and the Incorporation was delighted to welcome guests from Kircudbright and from North Ayrshire Council who both took tables.

The Incorporation was honoured to again welcome to our top tables guests from the Trades Houses from across Scotland (Aberdeen, Glasgow, Kirkcudbright, Stewarton) and from the Cordwainers of York. Brian Donohoe MP and Irene Oldfather MSP as well as representatives from the town bodies (Carters Society, Irvine Burns Club, Irvine Rotary Club, Irvine Seagate Rotary Club, Irvine Golf Club) also graced our top table.Once the 'big pie' was piped in, we all sat down to enjoy
Following a most enjoyable dinner, we were entertained by singers from Boys2Men from Centrepoint in Kilmarnock.

After the 'big pie' was ceremonially borne around the hall proceeded by the piper, the company sat down to enjoy an excellent dinner following which we were regaled by speeches and by singing from Boys2Men from Centrepoint, Kilmarnock.

As is the custom, Deacons circulated around the tables with bowls seeking donations towards the Incorporations School Prize fund (see under Charity Work, Trades and Local Schools) and a sum in excess of £900 was realised.
