First Burgh Shilling

The Incorporation made a decision to mount a shilling in or on some suitable item and present it to the ladies as a favour at the annual May Ball.

The first Burgh Shilling was encapsulated in a clear plastic square about half and inch thick and was presented at the first May Ball which was held in 1976 in the hall of Bank Street Primary School, now sadly demolished.

The Deacon Convenor in that year being Matthew Brown.
