Craftsman Donald McLeod of the Cooper Craft was chosen by the Clerk, David Whitelaw as Craftsman of the Year at the 2011 Big Pie.
In 1961 Donald was joined in marriage, joined the Irvine Golf Club, the Irvine Burns Club and the Coopers Craft of the Incorporated Trades (perhaps the way to a perfect marriage).
As well as serving as Deacon of his Trade, in 2003 he was elected Deacon Convener of the Incorporation.
But having completed his term of office he has not sat back on his laurels but continues to help the Incorporation in very active and profitable ways.

Over the years, he has helped the Trades raise thousands of pounds through his organisation of the annual Cabarets, which we hope, with his contacts, we can get going again in 2012.

He has served as an able Golf Convener for some time and this year has managed to get someone to take up that mantle, but no doubt he’ll be in the background offering his experiences and guidance to his successor.

Earlier this year his Craft made a handsome presentation to our recipient in recognition of all his work to the Coopers.
